Heartbeat Country & Whitby

This wonderfully atmospheric coastal town, divided by the River Esk, has a charming appeal with multiple personalities. First and foremost it’s a thriving fishing harbour where explorer Captain Cook learned his trade, but it also boasts a bustling shopping scene, magnificent beach and has an intriguing connection with Bram Stoker’s Dracula!

Located on the eastern edge of the North York Moors National Park is Goathland the primary filming location for the hit 1960s-themed ITV police drama Heartbeat (which aired from 1992 to 2010)! Enjoy seeing the real-life equivalents of fictional Aidensfield:

• Aidensfield Arms

  : The Goathland Hotel, which served as the iconic pub in the series.

• Aidensfield Station:

  Goathland Railway Station, which still operates vintage steam trains on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway.

• Scripps Garage & Funeral Parlour

  : Formerly a working garage, this is now a gift shop selling show memorabilia.

• The Village Green:

  The main setting for the police car and village scenes.

PLEASE NOTE: Day Excursions are non refundable. Children under 5 are not allowed to travel on the front row seats.

Please Note : If you wish to take a mobility scooter, wheelchair or rollator with you it must be requested at the time of booking. Any such equipment must fold flat for storage or be capable of being broken down into pieces of no more than 20kg. We cannot accept larger scooters (class 3) as these are too large and heavy to lift. We sometimes operate minibus feeders to minimise time, these vehicles CANNOT convey motorised wheelchairs/scooters.
