Imperial War Museum North is one of the most striking peices of architecture in Northwest England. Designed by Daniel Libeskind, the building represents a globe shattered by conflict. This museum exhibits how lives have been shaped by war in the 20th & 21st centuries. Running around the walls of the Main exhibition space is a timeline that guides you through key events of twentieth and twenty first century warfare. Throughout the Museum you can get up close to some large iconic objects. Gaze up at the US Harrier suspended above the entrance, see a First world war field gun, and take some time to reflect as you stand in front of some of the steel remains recovered from the ruins of The World Trade Centre. Take a chance to rest, relax and replenish along your journey in the café – located on the ground floor.

Please Note : If you wish to take a mobility scooter, wheelchair or rollator with you it must be requested at the time of booking. Any such equipment must fold flat for storage or be capable of being broken down into pieces of no more than 20kg. We cannot accept larger scooters (class 3) as these are too large and heavy to lift. We sometimes operate minibus feeders to minimise time, these vehicles CANNOT convey motorised wheelchairs/scooters.
