View Dates & BookSpend the day with us as we visit Macclesfield's Treacle Market as it celebrates its 15 year Anniversary!
Macclesfield is known as Treacletown, referring to the centuries old accident when a horse drawn wagon overturned, spilling its cargo of Treacle onto the cobbles.
It is a bustling outdoor market located in the heart of the town that has been around since 1988 and has become an integral part of local life. From fresh produce to handmade goods, this vibrant marketplace offers something for everyone. Visitors come from far and wide to experience the unique atmosphere and enjoy a day out with friends or family.
The market itself consists of over 200 stalls offering all kinds of wares; from clothing and crafts, to plants, food, books and much more. You can easily find whatever you need here as there are so many products available. The vendors are friendly and knowledgeable too they love talking about their product range which makes it fun to shop around.
Though times have changed since then, Treacle Market Macclesfield still maintains a strong sense of tradition by continuing to sell locally produced foods such as jams, pickles and honey alongside other traditional items like leather goods, pottery and handmade crafts.
