Standing proud at the gateway to the Yorkshire Dales, Richmond is one of Britain's most beautiful and vibrant market towns. With its iconic castle, fine historic buildings, sweeping cobbled market place and leafy riverside vistas, it is the original of no less than 105 worldwide Richmonds - all following in its ancient footsteps. As if this impressive pedigree is not enough, you will also find  a host of individual shops, tempting eateries and exciting cultural and heritage attractions to explore and discover. Clustered around the picturesque cobbled market place, with its landmark Norman castle, there are a host of independent shops, cafes, pubs, theatre, cinema, museums, walks and many other activities all within walking distance.

Ripon, in Yorkshire, is a cathedral city steeped in history and home to magnificent historical buildings and long-observed traditions. You will find a trio of award winning museums and a gothic cathedral that dates back to the 7^th century waiting to feed enquiring minds. With its thriving market place and magnificent cathedral, this busy little city will earn a place in any visitor’s heart. Reaching out from the market square are small streets and snickets that are home to the eclectic and specialist shops for which Ripon is so loved. Amongst them are cafes and pubs, offering refreshment and home cooked food throughout the day. This city’s history is entwined with the church, both due to the cathedral in the city centre and its proximity to the nearby Fountains Abbey. Ripon also boasts an outstanding racecourse, a glorious stately home, a magnificent abbey and popular theme park. There are always great things to do. The growth of the city through trade and manufacturing led to the building of a canal to link it to the navigable parts of the River Ure. Today this makes Ripon a delightful city to explore, with riverside and canal side walks that reach into the countryside and buildings that span the last thousand years.

Please Note : If you wish to take a mobility scooter, wheelchair or rollator with you it must be requested at the time of booking. Any such equipment must fold flat for storage or be capable of being broken down into pieces of no more than 20kg. We cannot accept larger scooters (class 3) as these are too large and heavy to lift. We sometimes operate minibus feeders to minimise time, these vehicles CANNOT convey motorised wheelchairs/scooters.
