Rutland Cream Tea Cruise & Gates Garden Centre(A)

We first head to Leicester to take a leisurely 45 minute cruise aboard the Rutland Belle taking in the picturesque scenery and waterbirds whilst listening to commentary highlighting points of interest. Whilst on board you will enjoy a morning cream tea of a freshly baked fruit scone with strawberry jam, luxury clotted cream, tea & coffee.

Afterwards we head to Gates Garden Centre on the Rutland/Leicestershire border which was established in 1948 and was originally created within the walls of a large Victorian kitchen garden belonging to Cold Overton Hall. Still on the same site today, the centre has expanded considerably over the years, but still retains its traditional family values of excellent customer service coupled with great value for money. It has over 12,500 square metres of retail and leisure facilities. As you’d expect for one of the largest garden centres in the country, you’ll find everything from indoor and outdoor plants, garden products, water features, pots and planters, garden tools, patio furniture, barbecues, clothing, gifts, homeware and pet care – there really is something for everyone.

There’s also a large, well-stocked farm shop, a restaurant with sunny balcony and a cosy coffee shop.

Please Note : If you wish to take a mobility scooter, wheelchair or rollator with you it must be requested at the time of booking. Any such equipment must fold flat for storage or be capable of being broken down into pieces of no more than 20kg. We cannot accept larger scooters (class 3) as these are too large and heavy to lift. We sometimes operate minibus feeders to minimise time, these vehicles CANNOT convey motorised wheelchairs/scooters.
