One of the most popular destinations in North Yorkshire, Skipton offers the full package to visitors to the region. With ample parking, an impressive marketplace, and all the modern amenities of a larger town, Skipton spoils visitors. As the gateway to the magnificent Yorkshire Dales, near Harrogate, people travel the length and breadth of the country to visit this charming market town. With its famous 900 year old castle and historic cobbled High Street, Skipton is endlessly rich both in history and outstanding natural beauty.
Each year, for one week, hundreds of scarecrows holiday in the delightful Dales village of Kettlewell. Human visitors try to find them all, solving clues and puzzles as they hunt. The Kettlewell Scarecrow Festival is a great way for the whole family to discover this lovely village in Wharfedale which has now been running for nearly 30 years. There are plenty of refreshments available with three pubs and two cafes as well as places to picnic by the river. The whole event raises money to support local community facilities such as the school and village hall. Amanda Harper, popular presenter on Look North, will be judging our Scarecrow Festival this year.
Come along and join in the fun!
