Skipton Market

We visit one of the oldest and best markets in the country, located at the foothills of the Dales in Skipton. This delightful town, known as the gateway to the Yorkshire Dales, continues to host a market under a charter granted over 800 years by King John. Voted Best Market on many occasions, Skipton Market is a real treat with plenty of stalls ready to tempt you.

Located on the cobbled stones of the High Street in the vicinity of a medieval castle, Skipton Market is the flagship of Yorkshire’s markets, with a unique heritage and friendly atmosphere. Its history dates back to medieval times, when a royal charter granted consent to the owners of Skipton Castle to hold a fair on Skipton High Street.

You’re certain to grab a bargain as you peruse the variety of stalls, selling everything from clothing, sweets and jewellery to leather goods, flowers and chocolates.  Taste samples of the finest local produce or pick up a unique gift for a family member or friend.

It’s prime location in the heart of Skipton means the town’s other attractions are right on your doorstep too.  Wander the quaint alleys and you will find a fantastic range of quirky boutiques mixing it with famous High Street brands where you can indulge in more retail therapy.

Please Note : If you wish to take a mobility scooter, wheelchair or rollator with you it must be requested at the time of booking. Any such equipment must fold flat for storage or be capable of being broken down into pieces of no more than 20kg. We cannot accept larger scooters (class 3) as these are too large and heavy to lift. We sometimes operate minibus feeders to minimise time, these vehicles CANNOT convey motorised wheelchairs/scooters.
