Wetherby on Drovers Day - Brass Band March & Hymn

Wetherby is thrust into a scene of music, colour and action, with audiences lining the streets and square and surrounding the bandstand. The day starts at noon and concludes with a highland bagpipe band marching the contest route and playing airs on the bandstand whilst judges decide winners and then award prizes.

Bands travel from the north east (including Fishburn, Peterlee, Westoe ), Derbyshire, Lancashire and of course Yorkshire where the brass band scene is particularly strong and vibrant.

There are food van facilities, to add to local cafes, bars and pubs. The local brewery also sell their brew ‘Drovers Return’ at the bandstand during the afternoon.

The town square close by holds its monthly and very popular Artisan outdoor market around the town hall on the same day.

PLEASE NOTE: Day Excursions are non refundable. Children under 5 are not allowed to travel on the front row seats.

Please Note : If you wish to take a mobility scooter, wheelchair or rollator with you it must be requested at the time of booking. Any such equipment must fold flat for storage or be capable of being broken down into pieces of no more than 20kg. We cannot accept larger scooters (class 3) as these are too large and heavy to lift. We sometimes operate minibus feeders to minimise time, these vehicles CANNOT convey motorised wheelchairs/scooters.
